Words to the Husbands

Published

on

Seasoned writer Mide Abayomi is here with another write-up, titled Word to the husbands. As the title implies it points directly to Husbands at home. She took her time to explains the responsibilities of every husband in the family, and for clarifications of her point, she quoted related verses in the Bible. We hope you get blessed as you read and Happy Easter!

Taking to consideration (1 Peter 3vs7) in the Bible, it talks about husbands dwelling with their wives according to knowledge, giving honour to them as the weaker vessels so that their (men) prayers will not be hindered.

I know most people are usually about the wife submitting to their husbands. Yes, even the Bible attests to that (Eph. 5vs22, 1Pet. 3vs 1). NIV translation says ‘respect’ your wife. Other translations; ‘honour’. Respect is reciprocal. These two words goes a long way in building a Godly home. You can’t be the lion of the tribe of your family and you expect your wife and children to respect, submit or even love you. You’ll automatically become a terror in your home and then everyone prays you’re not around. Your presence will instill fear in their hearts. And the Bible makes us understand that God alone should be our fear and dread (Isaiah 8vs13). Some children go into hiding as soon as they hear the sound of their father’s voice or car honk.

Being the head makes you responsible for what goes on in the family. You’re in charge. Marriage can be likened to a government administration but it’s not dictatorial. God gave us a perfect example: the church. Love your wife and children like Christ loved the church (Eph. 5vs25). Get to know your children, spend time with them. Don’t abandon the duties to your wife alone.

The husband is responsible for the affairs of the family. Don’t shift the blame to your wife. You are the head of state, she’s the assistant. Lead your people well.

Why do you think God questioned Adam instead of Eve?

Knowing fully well that Eve was the cause (Gen. 3vs11-12). It’s simply because you’re the one God ordained to take responsibility. So you have no excuse, whatsoever.

It’s very important for couples to obey God, so God won’t put enmity between them (Gen. 3vs15). Love and unity must exist (Psalms 133vs1). There must be agreement (Amos 3vs3) for the peace of God to reign in your home.

I see the peace of God reigning in your home in Jesus’ name. God will perfect all that concerns you and yours in Jesus name. Amen.

Prayer Point: Father, help me to do according to your will in marriage. Help me not to fail you.

Thanks for reading!
