Liverpool star Mohamed Salah revealed his desire to prove critics wrong from his time at Chelsea had motivated him this season.
Salah has scored 43 goals in all competitions this campaign, leading Liverpool to the Champions League final.
The 25-year-old collected Liverpool’s Player and Players’ Player of the Season awards on Thursday, as well as the Football Writers’ Association Footballer of the Year prize.
Salah has dominated the Premier League after an unsuccessful stay at Chelsea, who had the Egypt international on their books from 2014-16.
The superstar forward said he always wanted to return to England to silence his critics.
“I was here like four years ago and a lot of people said he couldn’t [have] success, that I cannot play in the Premier League, [that] it was very difficult for him,” Salah said.
“So it was always in my mind to come back. From the first day I left Chelsea, it was always in my mind to make them wrong.
“I made them wrong.”

Atletico Madrid defeated Nigeria 3-2 in an entertaining friendly encounter played at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium on Tuesday evening.
Goals from Angel Correa, Fernando Torres and Borja Garces denied the Super Eagles B side a victory, despite scoring two top quality goals through Kelechi Nwakali and second-half substitute Usman Mohammed – whose effort evoked memories of country legend Austin Jay Jay Okocha.
Club legend Torres started from the bench with Kevin Gameiro and match MVP Correa leading the line for Atletico while Salisu Yusuf had Lobi Stars’ Kadiri Samad supported by Emem Eduok – from the right flank – in his attack.

What a painful match to lose. The players certainly put in a decent shift. My man of the match is Kelechi Nwakali,

Chelsea Edge Manchester United Out To Claim FA Title
OK, it wasn’t a classic. But should Chelsea care? Nope! They’ve just won the FA Cup for the eighth time in their history! It’s the first cup victory on Conte’s managerial CV. And a first domestic cup defeat in England for Mourinho. Chelsea were the better side in the first half, and defended with great purpose in the second. United only really showed what they could do after the restart.
But chances were at a premium for both sides, and Pogba missed United’s golden opportunity to equalise with that free header in the closing stages. Chelsea were the deserved winners, even if the contest was tight.
