“Sango-Ota Toll Gate, An Harzadous Daily Death Traps To Motorist” – Nigerian Man Shares Experience

Niyi Ademola ODUYEMI writes on the Sango-Ota area of the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway which is now a nightmare to motorists and residents.

The Toll Gate at Sango Otta which is said to be an Hazardous daily death trap to motorist and Passers-bye of which the Lagos State and The Ogun State Government should give urgent attention to, courtesy of the traffic gridlock from the Toll Gate to Ajegunle bus stop along Lagos – Abeokuta express road.

According to Niyi, he said, This Spot is an industrial road mostly ply by Dangote Trailers, whose most time is either their break fails or their drivers drive recklessly with no mercy for smaller vehicles.

“This has led to the loss of lives of many people (Motorist and Residents).”

As a Concern Nigerian, Niyi who is a School Proprietor in Lagos believes this ugly occurrence of loss of lives and man-hour in Traffic gridlocks could be avoidable if the Government could take into consideration some of his suggestion which he listed below:

1.  The road at Tollgate needs to be expanded in no time at both ends to create a terminus for the commercial buses that drop and pick passengers on the road. The expansion which in turn should lead to the construction of bus terminus just as Lagos State Government did at Berger bus stop on the famous Lagos – Ibadan Expressway.

2.  Toll Gate needs an Overhead bridge like that of Abule-Egba so that vehicles can make U-turn back to Lagos under the bridge while those going to Lagos or Sango can ply the overhead bridge.

3.  Traders selling by the roadside at Tollgate should be evacuated and relocated to a more safer place. Accidents that happened in the past has had many traders lose their lives at the Tollgate.

4.  Alternative Road from Ajegunle through Faith Theology School should be made accessible to decongest the express leading to Tollgate.

5. Potholes at both sides of the Tollgate road inward Sango and Lagos ends should be repaired as soon as possible.
